A 3D model of Tarron’s hand, complete with serrated talons: beautifully carved by Mavis Irwin, and painted by myself as a collaboration piece.
The original carving stands at about 12 inches high x about 4 inches across the palm.
Click HERE to see my original concept art, and click HERE to read Mavis’ LJ detailing how she carved the hand.

Mavis' work was amazing enough, but the paint just gives it that much more life X3 A totally convincing Tarron hand. And I know painting 3d work isn't all that easy ^^;

=) Now I need to learn how to paint like that! Great job, Rachel!

Rachel, what a great collaboration! Was this hand made after your Talon? What material is it made of? I love your colouring.

:-) Rachel 'Chell' Beaconsfield replies: "Yes, it was made after my drawing, which Mavis used as a reference, carved completely from wood (I think she used poplar for the palm/fingers, and yellowheart for the talons, but don’t hold me to that ^^’) She gave it a white base-coat before shipping it off across the Atlantic to me, and I have to say there was nothing more awe-inspiring than taking it out the box; though I was petrified I might ruin it while giving it a paint job. She did another hand carving for Sam prior to this one which she painted herself: http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/art/a/m/amity/kararosefullsized.jpg.html
I would *kill* something cute and fuzzy for these kind of skills."

Oh I really like this one, hands are so hard to do. The nails are so cool, kinda wish I had nails like that. 2 Makes it simle to open a can of... whatever

Good work indeed.

The carving is amazing, but don't downplay your contribution - the painting adds so much. Wonderful collaboration!!!
