SciFi and Fantasy Art: Encroachment - Digital colour

My third attempt at mastering the tablet and Photoshop 7, featuring a skulking Zyden. This illustration is taken directly from a scene in my prose - the innocently clean skin compared to the pools of blood is quite intentional - Did he spill that blood, or didn't he?
Finishing this one took around fifteen hours, much experimenting, and about 225 MB unflattened. But, I'm rather pleased with the result, and Zyden looks equally enthralled.
You can find the original sketch elsewhere in my gallery

This is so fantastic, as I've said from the start when I first saw the WIP @_@ From the stylised, awesome skintone, his realistically rendered hair, and that excellent blood, to the well-developed background and rain effect, every part of this piece is superb and your effort and skill really shines in every aspect.

I love the rain and water droplets and ripples! They look so realistic! And that's your third attempt? Wow, man, I think you can stop calling them attempts, 'cause that doesn't look very novice to me! 2

I had to comment too. XD

I definitely like this one. For your third one, this is just awesome. You should've seen my third one. I remember it sucking more than what was humanely possible...

Er, back to your picture. I like the colors a lot, and the pose of course... I wish I could draw dynamic poses like that.
The perspective of the blood looks a bit weird though... I like the lighting too.

Hmm... *fifth comment performance*

:-) Rachel 'Chell' Beaconsfield replies: "Agreed, the blood perspective is off. I could go back and try again, but I’ve decided to push on with my next digital project instead, and just learn from my past mistakes. I will admit, Photoshop is so much better then Paintshop Pro – I did a few CG pieces on that programme with a mouse, and they were simply horrific and discouraging. It was a good year-long gap before I tried afresh with a tablet and PS7."

I hope this does not offend you, because you spent a lot of work on this colouring, but I like the pencil-drawing better.

I like how his muscles are visible ^^ handsome. I also love the pose ^^ but best of all is the rainy atmosphere ^^ well done. So is Theo Zydens son or...? ^^ sure would love to knowYes, Theo is Zyden’s son. I think I say that somewhere in this gallery, but don't hold me to that. The exact nature of how Theo comes to be is intentionally vague – plot in development. But as father and son go, their personalities couldn’t be more dissimilar, while still sharing some obvious traits.
Edit: http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/art/b/e/beaconsfield/no_problem.jpg.html <-- That'd be the one.

I like this picture. ALOT. His pose is very dynamic, asis said in previous comments. But I just find one small mistake, unless you meant it to be that way. The blood looks as if it is standing up in front of him a little. Or maybe that is just his position throwing it off. But I love how you did the raindrops in the blood though. I don't think that many would take the time to actually put that in. Nice touch.

*more purrrrrrrring...* awwwww! He's so cuuuuuuuute....I want him too. However, you already mentioned elsewhere he has a son...so I guess I'll have to have him instead. Oh well.
